EmpowerLocal Events Network

Display local events on your site with minimal upkeep

The EmpowerLocal Events Network gives you access to automated local events from premium sources, avoiding the time-consuming manual entry most event calendars require. This tool allows you to create a new, dynamic space on your site to drive traffic and monetize, as well as the ability to enter and feature your own specific events.

Local events from automated feeds

We pull local events in your area from feeds like Ticketmaster and Eventbrite to save you time while providing a robust, automated experience that still allows you to manually enter and feature your own events.

Generate more revenue

Create a new events experience for your viewers, and provide attractive new ad space for your direct-sold ads and programmatic backfill. Or, drop it into an existing page as a feature that you can monetize by highlighting specific events for paid partners.

It’s easy to use.

To activate

  1. Create your Dashboard profile. Get started here.
  2. Once inside your Dashboard profile, click the WordPress/Javascript Widgets tab. If you’ve not already installed the WordPress plugin, or configured your Javascript, go through the steps provided to get set up.
  3. If your site is on WordPress, you’ll manage your Events Network settings from the EmpowerLocal WordPress plugin settings in your site. If your site is not on WordPress, you’ll manage your Events Network code snippets from the “Get Widget” button in your EmpowerLocal Dashboard profile under “Events Network”.

FAQ

What is an event details page slug?

A slug is the string of text that appears after your domain name in the URL of a page. For example, if the main landing page for your events engine is at www.yourdomain.com/events/ your slug would be “events”. An Event Details Page is the page that someone sees when they click to see more detail about a particular event. You can make this as URL as unique as you’d like, just be sure it’s different than any other URL currently in use, and be sure to include dashes if there are multiple words such as: events-page or events-in-your-area.

Can I change my event details page slug?

You can change your event details page slug whenever you’d like, but there is an additional step in WordPress you’ll need to do for it to take effect. Once you’ve changed the slug name in your event engine settings, navigate to: Settings > Permalinks in your WordPress admin. Simply click “Save Changes” on the Permalinks page, and that’s it.
